Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze forearm muscle activity throughout phases of the golf swing. Using surface electrode electromyography, we evaluated muscle activity in 15 male golfers during the golf swing according to value of root mean square. Surface electrodes were used to record the level of muscle activity in the right flexor carpi radialis (FCR), right extensor carpi radialis (ECR), left FCR and left ECR muscles during the golfer¡¯s swing. There were no significant difference among three groups in right FCR and bilateral ECR. In left FCR. There was also no significant difference between amateur and beginner golfer group, but differences of muscle activity¡¯s pattern were significant among professional golfer group and the other golfer groups. Our findings demonstrate the importance of the forearm muscles in the golfer¡¯s swing.
